Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Do you offer financing, or must I pay everything up front?

Yes. We offer several financing options, including third‑party plans and 0% interest. For longer treatments such as orthodontics, we can also arrange an in‑office payment plan.

Q: What insurance do you accept?

We accept most PPO dental plans and many Medicare plans. We do not accept Dentical but please note that Dentical plans often do not cover elective or cosmetic procedures, implants, and bridgework.

Q: Do you offer an in‑office plan?

Yes. We offer an in‑office dental plan called the OC Dental Plan. It’s an affordable plan that covers two free regular cleanings per year and provides a 20% discount on most other dental procedures.

Q: Does placing an implant and performing a sinus lift hurt?

Not necessarily. We digitally plan each implant and use a surgical guide to place the implant precisely and quickly, often with minimal or no gum cutting. For sinus lifts we can often use minimally invasive techniques (Crestal Approach Sinus Lifting) that avoid large bone cuts. Both procedures are performed under local anesthesia, so most patients experience little pain during treatment and only mild discomfort afterward.

Q: Do composite veneers last as long as porcelain veneers?

No. Porcelain veneers are generally stronger and more durable than composite veneers. They resist staining better, maintain their appearance longer, and typically last many more years with proper care. Composite veneers are less expensive and easier to repair but tend to wear, stain, and chip sooner.

Q: What time of day is best for brushing and flossing, and how often should I do them?

Brush at least twice daily — once in the morning and once before bed. Floss once a day, preferably at night before sleeping, to remove plaque and food debris accumulated during the day. Brushing after meals can help, but wait 30 minutes after acidic foods or drinks to protect enamel.

Q: Does teeth whitening damage the teeth?

When performed correctly with appropriate products and under professional guidance, in‑office or at‑home whitening is safe and does not damage tooth structure. Overuse or very frequent treatments can increase tooth sensitivity or irritate gums, so follow your dentist’s recommendations — typically treatments are spaced months apart.

Q: Do you have to shave the teeth to place veneers?

Not always. Some veneers are “no‑prep” and require little to no enamel removal; others need minimal shaving depending on tooth position, color, and the desired outcome. We will evaluate and recommend the appropriate approach to preserve as much tooth structure as possible.

Q: Is the dentist gentle, especially with anxious patients?

Yes. Dr. H is extremely gentle and experienced with anxious patients. He uses a calm approach, clear communication, and offers anxiety‑management options (nitrous oxide if needed) to make visits comfortable.
